Halloween Costumes

Every other year since I have been a mom my little ones have had their outfits at least a month in advance.  Usually, it's two months.  Last year Eric was born in September, so I was slacking a little, but we still have them ready by October 1st... this year, not so much.

Gator finally decided this week that she wants to be Snow White.  She started telling everyone she was going to be Snow White, even before I had a say in the whole issue... so we now have a Snow White.  I contemplated making it... and then I bought it at Target.  And I'm totally okay with that, lol.

As for Boo... I considered a Monkey... and then I went and looked at costumes, both on-line and in stores.  He is just so darn tiny, and the costumes are all soooo big.  The 6 - 12 month costumes swallow him.

Soo... we've now decided that Gator will be Snow White and Boo will be Dopey.  Even my husband thought this was a cute idea, which surprised my a little (I expected a debate!).  Problem is, the Dopey costume will have to be made.  So I've been staring at pictures and planning it all out... and I think I'll be relying heavily on felt, lol.  But I think I can do this... right after I figure out why my sewing machine broke this morning and the needle will no longer go up and down... :/

I can do this!!  I can! I can! I can! lol... but still, wish me luck!!  I'll keep you updated on my progress.

Does anyone have any ideas on this one??  Any great tips to making this super easy?  I thought about using an over sized green turtleneck shirt but couldn't find one.  :(

  1. We're one of those families that have everything planned out for Halloween ahead of time too :) I've been looking around at costumes (we make ours, usually, since we have 4) and I found this pic of one. Looks like they made it with fleece, just a jacket & used regular blue cotton pants (or sweatpants maybe?) Here's the link:http://www.parenting.com/gallery/Toddler/homemade-toddler-costumes/31

Good luck! Can't wait to see how it turns out :)

  2. Good luck with the costume! I made Hayley's a couple years in a row, but bought the last few. She wants to be the same thing she was last year, a leopard...score!
